TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iran’s deputy petroleum minister and head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said on Thursday that the 19th IranPlast exhibition reflected President Pezeshkian’s policy of boosting commercial ties with neighboring states, highlighting strong foreign participation and innovation from domestic firms.

Hassan Abbaszadeh, speaking on the final day of the four-day event in Tehran, said doubts had existed over whether the exhibition would be well attended, but “the strong turnout of foreign traders, industry specialists and local producers proved the importance of this platform.”
He said foreign delegations, particularly from neighboring countries, had been invited “in a targeted manner” and established “effective commercial connections” with Iranian producers, adding that this aligned with the president’s directive to focus on regional markets.
Abbaszadeh singled out the presence of knowledge-based and start-up companies as a major achievement of this year’s edition. “Some of the bio-based additives and plant-derived compounds we saw can replace chemical additives that face restrictions under the upcoming global plastics pollution treaty,” he said, noting that sanctions had limited Iran’s access to such technologies from abroad.
The NPC chief also acknowledged challenges raised by participants, including currency access and import order registration, issues he said were discussed with officials from the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade who promised follow-up.
Abbaszadeh added that downstream producers have improved quality standards compared with previous years, with many firms now exporting to foreign markets. “This shows the resilience of Iran’s petrochemical industry and its ability to upgrade under difficult conditions,” he said.
The 19th IranPlast exhibition hosted more than 700 Iranian and 67 foreign companies, featuring product launches, B2B meetings, and the unveiling of the SAMAP platform for petrochemical product specifications.
