Speaking on Sunday, Jalilianfard outlined the
launch of 66 strategic petrochemical projects under the plan, including 19
projects scheduled for 2025, which collectively will add approximately 10
million tons of annual production capacity. These projects cover a broad range
of products, from methanol and polypropylene to urea, ethylene, and ethylene
glycol.
The initiatives also include key infrastructure
developments, such as new power plants, water desalination units, and
modernized loading terminals at the Pars Petrochemical Port and other export
hubs, enhancing both domestic supply chains and international export
capabilities.
“By the end of 2025, Iran’s petrochemical
capacity will surpass 100 million tons, marking a significant milestone not
only in production volume but also in strengthening our global standing,”
Jalilianfard said.
The expansion is expected to generate nearly
4,000 direct and over 8,400 indirect jobs, boosting employment in surrounding
communities. He emphasized that over 75% of the equipment for these projects is
domestically produced, highlighting the growing capabilities of Iranian
manufacturers and knowledge-based companies.
Looking ahead, the eighth development plan is
projected to add another 55 million tons to the sector’s capacity over the next
decade, underscoring Iran’s commitment to sustained growth and technological
advancement in petrochemicals.
