Ahmed Jalilianfard, NPC’s Projects Director, told reporters on
Wednesday that the 15 petrochemical plants are expected to add 6.8 million tons
to the sector’s output capacity, while the four feedstock projects will produce
2.8 million tons of C2+ hydrocarbons.
The feedstock projects include NGL 3100 in Dehloran, NGL 3200 in
Jofeir and West Karun regions, along with flare gas recovery units at Bidboland
and Ahvaz, which also contribute to environmental protection by reducing gas
flaring.
Jalilianfard added that in the Rag-e-Sefid area, flare gas recovery
has reached 2.7 million cubic meters per day, shutting down 10 flares, while 9
million cubic meters per day of methane from NGL 3100 and NGL 3200 are either
injected into the gas network or used by local power plants in Dehloran and
Jofeir.
He said the combined output from the 19 projects will add
approximately 10 million tons to production capacity, with private sector
participation seen as a driving force for industry growth.
About 80% of required equipment and materials for these projects have
been sourced domestically, reflecting a strong emphasis on local manufacturing
capabilities, Jalilianfard noted.
Only one of the new projects will use natural gas as feedstock; the
rest rely on intermediate and midstream petrochemical feedstocks.
Official commissioning will occur once the projects achieve stable
production levels.
Jalilianfard also announced a ceremony in December to celebrate
surpassing 100 million tons of production capacity.
Additionally, two gas turbines with a combined capacity of 366
megawatts will become operational this year in Makran, alongside the Damavand
Energy Company in Assaluyeh, supporting the national power grid.
The Damavand Energy Company will also produce 2,083 cubic meters per
hour of treated water, with a $147 million investment.
Furthermore, seven port docks have been renovated and are set for
operation, enhancing logistical support for the industry.
