MAHSHAR (NIPNA) — A 25-year-old Iraqi national studying medicine in Iran was saved by medical staff at Mahshahr Petrochemical Industries Hospital following a life-threatening car accident, local officials said on Tuesday.

According to the Health and Treatment Department of Mahshahr Oil Industry, the young man was admitted to the hospital in critical condition with a severe brain hemorrhage after a traffic collision. He was in a deep coma and faced imminent risk of death, said Dr. Shahram Sarafrazian, head of Mahshahr’s Oil Industry Health and Treatment Department.

Upon his arrival, emergency medical teams responded swiftly. “The patient received immediate emergency care upon admission, followed by neurosurgery led by Dr. Farahbakhsh, who performed brain surgery and inserted an external ventricular drain (EVD),” Dr. Sarafrazian said.

Following the procedure, the patient was transferred to the ICU, where continuous monitoring and intensive treatment were carried out under the supervision of neurosurgeons Dr. Farahbakhsh and Dr. Alidaeii, and ICU head Dr. Hatemzadeh.

Thanks to ongoing efforts by the ICU team at Mahshahr Petrochemical Hospital, the patient’s condition gradually improved, and he has now regained consciousness. He remains under medical supervision in stable condition.
