Addressing the company’s social responsibility efforts and the initiatives
of the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Development Company (PGPIC) to
reduce energy imbalances across Iran, Zalkhani emphasized Fajr Energy’s role as
a key provider of electricity, steam, industrial air, water, and wastewater
treatment services to petrochemical plants in the special economic zone.
“In the past six years, Fajr Energy has injected 500 megawatt-hours of
electricity into the national grid during hot seasons, playing a vital role in
supporting the regional power network and meeting public needs,” he said.
Last year alone, the company contributed about 1.4 billion
kilowatt-hours of electricity during the warm months, enough to power roughly
125,000 households or 600,000 people in Khuzestan province.
Fajr Energy’s power units supplied part of their production from April
through October 2024, coinciding with the peak electricity demand period, back
to the national grid. On average, the company accounted for over 19.6 percent
of all self-generated industrial power fed into the national grid, peaking at
more than 25 percent in June.
These contributions, while ensuring uninterrupted essential services
for local petrochemical industries, have been crucial in reducing power outages
and maintaining grid stability in both Khuzestan and the wider country.
