At the end of Tir, the equivalent of July 22, the basic metals sector
had a market value of 3,426 trillion tomans, followed closely by chemical
products at 3,402 trillion tomans and petroleum products at 1,784 trillion
tomans, according to the organization’s Economic Analysis and Risk Department.
The ranking marked a shift from the previous month and the end of the
previous Iranian calendar year. Chemical products had ranked first at the end
of Khordad and Esfand 1404, while basic metals and petroleum products held
second and third place, respectively.
Iran’s listed companies operate across 48 industries on the Tehran
Stock Exchange and Iran’s over-the-counter market. The 10 largest industries
had a combined market value of more than 14,257 trillion tomans at the end of
Tir.
Those 10 sectors represented 84.5% of the total value of Iran’s stock
market, down 0.8 percentage point from the previous month. Their share stood at
85.3% at the end of Khordad and 84.9% at the end of Esfand 1404.
The latest figures underscore the continued dominance of
commodity-linked industries—including metals, chemicals and petroleum
products—in Iran’s equity market, with changes in sector valuations capable of
quickly reshaping the ranking of the market’s largest industries.
