TEHRAN, August 9 (NIPNA)— Iran’s petrochemical industry has made significant progress toward restoring production after suffering damage during the country’s recent conflict, with media playing a key role in documenting the sector’s recovery, Deputy Petroleum Minister and acting head of the National Petrochemical Company Omid Shakeri said.

In a message marking Iran’s Journalists’ Day, Shakeri said the industry had sustained multiple losses in recent months but that the dedication of its skilled workforce had enabled major steps toward reconstruction and the revival of production.

“The industry has taken major steps on the path from reconstruction to the restoration of production, and telling this story is the responsibility of media professionals,” Shakeri said in the message.

Iran’s petrochemical sector is a major driver of the country’s economy and industrial development, making accurate and responsible reporting increasingly important in communicating its achievements and future prospects, he said.

Shakeri emphasized the role of the media in promoting awareness, transparency and responsible information-sharing, saying these were essential to building public trust, strengthening cooperation and accelerating sustainable development.

He also paid tribute to journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty and extended his greetings to journalists, media professionals and others involved in reporting on the petrochemical industry.

The comments come as Iran’s petrochemical sector works to restore production capacity and maintain operations following damage sustained during the recent conflict, highlighting the importance of both industrial recovery and clear communication about the sector’s performance.
