According to the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), on Jan. 25,
residential and commercial gas use reached 737 million cubic meters, exceeding
South Pars production by around 10 million cubic meters. This represented 85%
of total gas injected into the national network, highlighting the sector’s
critical role in ensuring energy security.
The Ministry of Petroleum attributed the stability to coordinated
production management, infrastructure upgrades, and enhanced network monitoring.
“Sustained cold temperatures, record consumption, and the addition of 700,000
new subscribers all contributed to higher demand this winter,” the ministry
said.
South Pars daily output was boosted by around 25 million cubic meters
through development and operational improvements, reaching 727 million cubic
meters per day. Technical readiness at 20 gas refineries, comprehensive
maintenance of transmission lines, and smart monitoring systems also played a
key role in keeping the supply uninterrupted.
“The stable operation of the gas network this winter demonstrates the
effectiveness of infrastructure investments, operational coordination, and the
dedication of gas industry personnel across the entire value chain—from
upstream production to downstream distribution,” the ministry added.
The ministry emphasized that protecting household supply remains a top
priority, with other sectors using alternative fuels during peak periods to
maintain network balance.
