Saeed Tavakoli, CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company and deputy petroleum
minister for gas affairs, announced the milestone during the 14th Winter Fuel
Coordination Meeting.
He noted that on Jan. 13, 162.1 million cubic meters of gas were
delivered to power plants, setting another record for the sector this year.
Tavakoli highlighted the resilience of Iran’s gas infrastructure
during a 12-day conflict last year, when several processing facilities were
damaged.
He said that one affected unit at the Fajr Jam Gas Refinery was fully
restored within six months thanks to coordinated management and staff efforts.
Despite colder-than-usual temperatures since September and an
additional 700,000 household connections increasing daily consumption by an
average of 23 million cubic meters, Tavakoli said no gas supply interruptions
occurred in any sector.
The CEO emphasized continued vigilance for provincial gas managers as
temperatures are expected to drop further.
He called for close monitoring of consumption in public offices,
commercial sectors, and industries, noting that since the start of the year,
over 3.2 billion cubic meters more gas has been delivered to power plants and
at least 1.5 billion cubic meters more to industrial users compared with the
same period last year.
Tavakoli also stressed the role of private energy operators,
particularly in northern provinces, in optimizing consumption and reducing
imbalances across the country’s energy network, describing their contribution
as vital for maintaining supply stability.
