The flare, supplied by a foreign manufacturer and
in service since the unit’s commissioning, plays a vital role in process safety
and environmental protection, said Jabbari, production manager at the company’s
Gas Separation-1 complex.
He said the equipment had sustained significant
damage after over a decade of use, but was restored without the need for a new
purchase. “The repair and reinstallation were carried out entirely by our
in-house specialists,” he noted, adding that buying a replacement would have
forced a shutdown lasting several months.
The project was completed through joint efforts
of maintenance and operations teams, according to the company.
Flare systems are essential in petrochemical
plants, where they safely burn off excess gases to prevent explosions and
mitigate environmental impact. The successful overhaul of the NF3 flare is
expected to ensure stable production and reduce emissions at Bandar Imam, one
of Iran’s largest petrochemical hubs.
