Saeed Zohreh, vice president of sales and marketing at Rijal
Petrochemical, told NIPNA on the sidelines of the 19th IranPlast exhibition
that the upcoming commissioning of the Salman Farsi PDH and Seraj Gostaran
Rijal units will increase national propylene and polypropylene production
capacity by around 450,000 tons – nearly a 50% rise in Iran’s total output.
“This expansion not only addresses domestic demand but also provides
significant export potential, with an estimated 60-70% of the new capacity
capable of serving international markets,” Zohreh said.
Zohreh described IranPlast as a highly specialized, annually recurring
event that offers companies a continuous platform to introduce innovations,
exchange experience, and secure commercial partnerships. He noted that Rijal
Petrochemical has participated in every edition of the exhibition since 2005,
using it to engage directly with both domestic and foreign customers.
While foreign attendance was relatively lower than in past years,
Zohreh emphasized the importance of supportive international trade policies to
fully leverage the exhibition’s potential. “Iran has considerable capacity, and
with well-managed international engagement, broader foreign participation is
achievable,” he said.
Highlighting the strategic impact of the upcoming projects, Zohreh
added that they will reduce reliance on imports, limit foreign currency
outflows, and generate new revenue streams through exports, reinforcing
economic stability amid external pressures.
He concluded by praising the exhibition organizers and noting that
Iran’s petrochemical industry continues to advance robustly despite challenges.
“With cooperation, smart decision-making, and reliance on domestic
capabilities, a brighter future awaits Iran’s petrochemical sector,” Zohreh
said.
