Speaking on the sidelines of the 19th IranPlast
International Exhibition in Tehran, Sheikh Mustafa Abdulrahman said raw
materials for the plastics industry hold a “special place” in commercial
exchanges between Iran and the Kurdistan Region.
“Our economic cooperation with the Islamic
Republic of Iran has a long history, and in recent years we have consistently
used the opportunity of IranPlast to strengthen ties in the plastics sector,”
he told NIPNA.
Abdulrahman said a 35-member delegation of
business executives and union leaders from the provinces of Kirkuk and Halabja
joined this year’s fair to explore new partnerships with Iranian companies.
Trade between Iran and the Kurdistan Region
stands at around $6 billion annually, he added, with plastics and polymer
feedstock among the key commodities.
“This year we are witnessing more participants,
new products, and a higher level of quality,” Abdulrahman said of the
exhibition.
