The system, known as SAMAAP (Petrochemical Product Technical
Specifications System), will serve as the official reference for all
petrochemical products listed on Iran’s commodities exchange, providing
verified physical and chemical data for buyers and downstream industries.
Mohammad Motaghi, head of downstream industry development at the National
Petrochemical Company (NPC), said the platform replaces the previous
paper-based and fragmented system of obtaining product data. “In the past,
specifications were collected through time-consuming correspondence with
plants, which did not always provide sufficient assurance to customers,” he
said.
With SAMAAP, more than 1,200 international standards have been integrated,
enabling producers to upload technical data that, once verified, becomes the
official product sheet for trading on the exchange. Motaghi said the system
will help reduce disputes between producers and consumers by giving all parties
access to certified information.
He added that the platform not only streamlines processes and reduces
bureaucracy but also strengthens oversight and improves market efficiency. “It
can support market development, raise product quality and enhance the standing
of Iran’s petrochemical industry domestically and internationally,” he said.
Nouh Jah, CEO of the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company, called
the platform one of the sector’s most important recent achievements in
digitalization. He said years of technical expertise in polymers, catalysts and
chemical processes have been incorporated into the system.
“The polymer section is now complete and will be officially unveiled at the
IranPlast exhibition, with the chemicals segment to be added soon,” Jah said.
He stressed that consumers can now be confident that products purchased via the
exchange meet approved specifications.
