TEHRAN, May 11 (NIPNA) — Iran's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, announced that Iran and Russia are set to broaden their cooperation in the petrochemical sector, highlighting the absence of any barriers to such collaboration between the neighboring nations.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 29th Iran International Oil, Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Exhibition, Jalali emphasized Iran’s growing global status in petrochemicals and praised the progress made by Iranian companies in recent years.

Strategic Partnership and Market Expansion

Jalali stressed that Iran is actively working to remove any remaining obstacles to cooperation and pointed out that Russia presents substantial opportunities for market development. “We can capture a greater share of the Russian market,” he stated.

Mutual Commitment to Petrochemical Growth

Hassan Abbaszadeh, Deputy Petroleum Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), reiterated Iran's readiness to strengthen ties with Russia in the value-driven petrochemical industry. He emphasized the presence of numerous shared grounds for joint ventures and investment.

Abbaszadeh also referenced his recent discussions with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, highlighting the positive momentum in bilateral cooperation in the petrochemical domain over recent years.

Trade Milestones and Market Penetration

The NPC chief noted that Iran exported over $250 million worth of petrochemical products to Russia last year, reflecting significant growth in trade volume. He added that Iranian petrochemical companies have enhanced their visibility in the Russian market by participating in industry-specific exhibitions and trade forums.

These interactions, Abbaszadeh explained, are part of a broader cooperative framework supported by joint commissions and bolstered by trade facilitation mechanisms and financial infrastructure, laying the foundation for deeper industrial engagement.
