TEHRAN (NIPNA) – The CEO of Fanavaran Petrochemical Company said the plant had planned for production of over 975,000 tons of methanol and more than 120,000 tons of citric acid in the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.

Mohammad Javad Badri told reporters on Saturday that the complex had 3 units of methanol, citric acid and carbon monoxide which yielded a total of 1.1 million tons of products last calendar year.

Noting that the growth of petrochemical industry could shrink the country’s vulnerability to the sanctions, he said, "In our complex, we changed our production strategy and outlook of 2017… and achieved sustainable production, profitability, safe production and optimal consumption.”

According to Badri, the company is currently selling 80 percent of its output on international markets.
