TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The CEO of the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) said his company was to sign the first contract to license a methanol to propylene (MTP) contract with a local firm on Thursday.

Ali Pajouhan said an agreement for license transfer, process engineering documents and basic engineering for an MTP plant would be signed with Fateh Kimia Petrochemical Company on Thursday.

He said the plant would be operating with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons.

The official also said the deal would be signed between PRTC and the private company in Mahshahr, southwestern Iran.

He further said that the capabilities of the company, facilities and equipment, knowhow and engineering capabilities and the performance of the MTP semi-industrial pilot would be unveiled for applicants and investors in the petrochemical industry on Thursday, adding the demo-plant would have all elements of an industrial unit and would put PRTC’s capabilities in offering licenses and engineering documents of MTP units.

The PRTC CEO stated that along with the development of MTP know-how, the technical savvy of producing all the catalysts required for this unit has been acquired and internalized by PRTC, adding: “In the process and in the required catalysts, there are no restrictions in PRTC.”

Research and development to reach the current capabilities began 15 years ago, he added.
