Speaking to reporters on Monday,
the official said that Iran was one of the world's largest exporters of urea
fertilizer.
He said the agreement between two
of the companies affiliated to the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum for production
of needle and sponge coke was a historic one as it rendered the country
needless of importing the item that is widely used in the steel and aluminum
industries.
Zangeneh said that once the
contract is enforces and production of coke begins in Imam Khomeini and Bandar
Abbas refineries, the fuel oil output of the refineries would also improve,
generating more value added for the refineries.
Furthermore, the coke units would
be fed by fuel oil which is to be used for production of much more valued
items, he added.
