Korosh Dehghan, Director General of the Crisis Management Office at
Bushehr Province Governorate, stated that the fire was extinguished through the
efforts of firefighting teams from Dayyer city, the Port Authority, and Kangan
County.
"The incident has unfortunately resulted in three fatalities and
two injuries. The injured individuals are currently hospitalized and receiving
medical treatment," Dehghan confirmed.
The fire reportedly originated during welding operations on the docked
cargo barge. Dehghan attributed the cause to negligence and lack of safety
precautions by the welding crew. He added that cooling operations are still
underway at the site to prevent reignition.
Ehsan Izadpanah, Head of the Bushehr Red Crescent Society, confirmed
the death toll and noted that two individuals remain trapped inside the barge.
“Given the critical conditions, the number of casualties may rise,” he warned.
Izadpanah further reported that initial emergency assessments
indicated a total of seven people were affected by the incident. Of these, two
injured individuals have been transferred to medical centers by EMS units.
Emergency response operations continue with the presence of
firefighting and Red Crescent rescue teams at the scene. The Red Crescent has
deployed one ambulance and two off-road vehicles to assist with the ongoing
rescue efforts.
