TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran’s Shazand Petrochemical Plant has officially started industrial production of SAC500 Catalyst which is used for production of PE-100 grade polyethylene pipes.

Domestic production of the item saves the country 15 million Euros annually.

The technical savvy for production of the catalyst was developed at the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company (PRTC) and it is now being produced in an industrial scale at Shazand Petrochemical Plant.

PE-100 pipe produced with domestically manufactured SAC 500 catalyst has been able to obtain quality certificates from reputable domestic firms, and has proven better technical specifications than its foreign rivals.

After full evaluation of the catalyst at laboratory, pilot, and semi-industrial scales and success in all the related tests, the catalyst was injected into the reactor at Shazand Petrochemical Plant last week.

Reducing energy consumption of the production unit, reducing downstream, low-value byproducts, reducing consumption of some raw materials, improving distillation process and increasing production of valuable polyethylene products are some of the advantages of this catalyst compared to its foreign rivals.
