Status of Petchem Industry in Iran Economy Growing: MP

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- A member of the Iranian parliament said the share of petrochemical industry in non-oil exports was growing and the sector played a key role in Iran’s economy.

Speaking to NIPNA, Elyas Hazrati, who represents the Tehrani citizens in the assembly, said the share of petrochemicals in non-oil exports had grown more than 8 times since 1979, the year the Islamic Revolution became victorious.

He underlined the vast potentialities in the sector as well as attractiveness to investors, adding Iran’s petrochemical industry could play a vital role in the industrial and economic development of the country by production of value-added items.

The MP further added that establishment of a regulatory body in the industry was crucial to ensure its rapid and balanced progress.
