TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Secretary-General of the Petrochemical Employers Association emphasized that to bring the country's economy to an acceptable level, there is no path other than a production surge in the petrochemical industry.

Ahmad Mahdavi Abhari, Secretary-General of the Petrochemical Employers Association, speaking at the "Specialized Meeting of Senior Managers in the Petrochemical Industry with the Aim of Achieving a Production Surge with People's Participation," stated that while the Supreme Leader has been highlighting the country's issues for years, it is the governments that must implement remedies for the nation's ailments.

"The initiative to hold a meeting at the beginning of the year with the effort of Mr. Engineer Shahmirzai, the esteemed Deputy Minister and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), and senior managers of the petrochemical industry is commendable," Mahdavi noted.

He stressed the need for revolutionary decisions to achieve this year's slogan, which emphasizes a production surge with people's participation, stating that the government must quickly make revolutionary decisions to overcome production obstacles in this industry.

"There is no path other than a production surge in the petrochemical industry to bring the country's economy to an acceptable level," Mahdavi reiterated.

He highlighted that a production surge with people's participation means that the capital, capacity, and potential of the people must contribute to production, which requires preparing the necessary infrastructure and providing sufficient support.

Mahdavi mentioned that the nominal capacity of the petrochemical industry reached 96 million tons in 1402 (Iranian calendar year), with approximately 75 million tons produced. He called for legislation to assure investors that decisions made in favor of production at higher levels of governance will not be annulled by any other law or directive.

The specialized meeting aimed at achieving a production surge with public participation was held today (Sunday, April 7, 2024) with the presence of Morteza Shahmirzaei, Deputy Minister of Petroleum, and CEOs of petrochemical holdings and companies, along with managers of several petrochemical projects. The meeting, hosted by the production control management of the NPC, addressed the programs and concerns of companies to achieve the slogan of the year.
