TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) announced the formation of the first "Production Surge" task force at three levels within the NPC, holdings, and petrochemical companies with the aim of achieving the slogan of the year 1403 (which began on March 20), "Production Surge with People's Participation."

Morteza Shahmirzaei, on Sunday, April 7, 2024, during the "Senior Petrochemical Industry Managers Meeting to Achieve Production Surge with People's Participation," referred to the naming of the year 1403 as the year of production growth with people's participation by the esteemed Leader's office. He stated, "Fortunately, the Iranian petrochemical industry is a people's industry, and about 60 million Iranians are shareholders in this industry."

Shahmirzaei, noting that the NPC, as the specialized parent company in this industry, has planned to form production surge task forces at three levels within the NPC, holdings, and petrochemical companies to achieve the slogan of the year 1403, stated, "The factors contributing to the reduction in production and obstacles to production will be analyzed in more specialized meetings."

He added, "According to the Sixth Development Plan, petrochemical companies are required to allocate 40% of their annual profits to development and completion of the value chain to benefit from the stepwise feedstock discount, and we request all petrochemical companies to focus on completing the value chain with the aim of creating more added value."

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum and CEO of the NPC stated, "This year, the petrochemical industry is taking steps towards its production surge, and this leading and specialized industry will move towards the development and surge in production of various products using all available capacities and the cooperation of holdings and petrochemical companies."

He considered the maximum presence of managers and petrochemical companies in today's meeting as effective interaction and collaboration for achieving the set goals in the current year, adding, "Feedstock management to meet the needs of the petrochemical industry is important, and with the cooperation of the National Iranian Oil Company, the National Iranian Gas Company, and the refining and distribution company, efforts must be made to ensure the sustainable supply of petrochemical feedstock."

The Deputy Minister of Petroleum stated, "9% of the country's gas is allocated to petrochemical feedstock, and with the cooperation of the country's refining sector and the use of liquid feedstocks, the industrial feed basket can be diversified."

Shahmirzaei emphasized, "We expect petrochemical companies to increase the production capacity of this industry, which will bring the highest return to the country's economy, and for this purpose, the issue of petrochemical units' feedstock in the Council of the Minister's deputies will undoubtedly be raised and pursued."

He referred to the collection of associated gas and flaring reduction efforts and added, "By using these gases, petrochemical production can be increased, leading to increased production and meeting the needs of downstream petrochemical industries."

Shahmirzaei said, "The flaring gases of the East and West Karun, with the efforts of the petrochemical industry, are being collected," and added, "Petrochemical holdings are also investing in upstream oil development to ensure a sustainable feedstock supply."

The CEO of the NPC stated, "Last year, with the interaction and collaboration of petrochemical companies, 80 credit facilities were provided, and downstream petrochemical industries received their needs more easily, and about 15,000 downstream units can receive their required feedstock on credit."

Shahmirzaei continued, "Production surge is related to production management, and petrochemical managers must consider all aspects in production complexes and move towards the development and balanced progress of the industry by utilizing the country's capabilities and knowledge and employing new knowledge."

He pointed out the role and importance of increasing cooperation with the Iranian Customs, Ports and Maritime Organization, as well as the country's transportation fleet to facilitate exports and said, "With national determination, we must achieve the set goals for production surge."

The CEO of the NPC addressed the CEOs of holdings and petrochemical companies, saying, "Provide media coverage to explain the achievements of the industry, and the successes achieved in projects and petrochemical complexes must be communicated through coherent cultural efforts."
