During a visit to the area in the southwestern province of Khuzestan,
Behzad Mohammadi stated that NPC was serious in materializing construction of
the second phase of Mahshahr Petrochemical Zone (PETZONE).
He named the petrochemical industry as one of Iran’s key economic
pillars, adding the industry enjoyed an eye-catching background.
Currently 54 petrochemical plants are being run in Iran while 66
others are under construction of which 34 have so far made physical progress
beyond
20 percent.
Mr. Mohammadi further predicted that Iran’s total petrochemical
production capacity by 2025 would cross 100 million tons per year provided that
the under-construction projects came online as planned.
