TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Experts at Iran's Amir Kabir Petrochemical Plant have successfully renovated a boring machine with Rls. 1.5 billion of investment after three months of hard work.

In machining, boring is the process of enlarging a hole that has already been drilled (or cast) by means of a single-point cutting tool (or of a boring head containing several such tools), such as in boring a gun barrel or an engine cylinder.

According to the plant's public relations and international affairs department, the project was carried out with the consultation of a knowledge-based company in Khuzestan, southwestern Iran.

The facility upgraded the machine from manual to 5-axis CNC, and carried out designing, manufacturing and installing of facing head for tube sheet cutting of heat exchangers in less than 3 months.

The return on investment of the project will be one month.
