TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran's Shimibaft Petrochemical Company supplied 20,000 tons of products in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21, 13% higher year-on-year.

The plant supplied 18,000 tons of products in the first quarter of the previous calendar year.

The boost was obtained despite overhaul of two of the plant's units during the period.

The plant, with an area of 5 acres, is located on site 3 of Bandar Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone, southwestern Iran. The first unit, producing MTBE with a capacity of 45 thousand tons, was launched in 2002 and the second unit with the same capacity came online in 2006. The plant is fed by four-carbon (Raffinate 1) and methanol and its products include Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE) as the main product and cut four-carbon (Raffinate 2) as a by-product.
