Speaking to NIPNA, Mir Mohammad Sadeghi said the
best way to wean the economy off sale of crude oil and gas is boosting
production of value-added petrochemicals, adding: “Development of the
petrochemical industry is the best way towards economic growth for the
country.”
The businessman said export of petrochemical
products has always been top on all the administrations’ agendas, adding:
“Today, we have to ramp up export of petrochemicals more than ever. If we want
to reduce crude oil sales, then production of petrochemical products should be
further increased.”
Pointing out that Iran enjoys abundant natural
gas reserves, Mr. Sadeghi further added that consumption of natural gas as
petrochemical feedstock is the best way to exploit the item. “If we want to
develop out country’s economy, the best way is to develop the petrochemical
sector and boost export of petrochemicals.”
He further added that many countries are keen on
joining petrochemical projects in Iran whether by investing in them or
licensing the projects. “By bolstering our export markets, we can lure many
customers into the industry.”
