Speaking to NIPNA, Mohammad Hassan Peyvandi,
chairman of the board of directors at Tamin Petroleum and Petrochemical
Investment Co. (TAPPICO), said given its applications, the regulatory body in petrochemical
industry can orchestrate petrochemical activities in the sector.
He said the infrastructures for
institutionalizing a regulatory authority for the petrochemical sector must be
provided so that companies and holdings can ensure realization of their
envisaged plans and goals.
Peyvandi also proposed that the National
Petrochemical Company (NPC) can be entrusted the task of being the sector's
regulatory body, saying the body will ensure observation of health, safety and
environmental issues in the industry as well.
"The private sector is not experiences
enough in this field, which is why many incidents have been the case in recent
years," he argued, saying if the body is not formed as soon as possible, disastrous
incidents may occur in the industry.
