TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- The Governor of Khuzestan said that over 4 billion dollars (roughly IRR170 trillion) had so far been invested in the development of Masjed Soleiman Petrochemical Project.

According to IRNA, Gholamreza Shariati on Monday evening, in a gathering of reporters, and on the sidelines of installation of heavy-duty reactor equipment at Masjed Soleiman Petrochemical Complex, said: "Masjed Soleiman Petrochemical Project is a major economic progress [for the country] and currently most of its required equipment and machinery has been or is being imported to the country."

He said based on the project's timetable, "this massive project will be operational by June 2019. In the future, other major industrial projects whose development has began around a year and a half ago will come on-stream in Khuzestan."

Bidboland II Gas Refinery, Masje Soleiman Petrochemical Plant and Marty Jahan Ara Steel Mill are some of the major projects which are being completed in the southwestern oil-rich province of Khuzestan.
