TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- A member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce says facilitation of political relations and energy diplomacy can pave the ground for enhanced petrochemical exports for Iran.

Speaking to NIPNA, Hassan Riahi, a member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Mines, said: "Due to the lack of funds, many development projects in industries such as those in the petrochemical industry are facing serious challenges; therefore the ground must be set for introduction of fresh investment in the sector."

He said fluctuation of the exchange rate in the country, besides fixing prices of petrochemicals would increase the costs in the sector, adding that mother industries, including the petrochemical industry, are among the industries that contribute to sustainable and long-term employment, and the downstream industries of the industry also contribute to indirect and medium-term job creation.
