Addressing a
session at the 3rd Iranian Petroleum and Energy Club Congress and Exhibition in
Tehran on Wednesday, Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company
(NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei said synergy and collaboration in the sector can result
in the country’s development and growth in petrochemical industry which is key
in generation of capital from energy carriers.
Currently,
the petrochemical industry accounts for 35% of non-oil exports and 39%
of industrial exports of Iran, she said.
Shahdaei, who
is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, further added that
China is the biggest market for Iranian petrochemicals.
Last year, Iranian
petrochemical facilities had the production capacity of 62 million tons but
exported 21 mt and generated $10b. The industry also supplied 7 million tons of

Iran has
planned construction of 56 petrochemical projects which, when operational will
add 55 million tons to the country’s production capacity.
