TEHRAN (NIPNA) – A senior official with the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said the company has placed production of new petrochemical items with higher value-added top on its agenda.

Farnaz Alavi, director of planning and development at NPC, told NIPNA about NPC's priorities, saying the company has devised plans for production of new items aimed at generation of more valued added from crude oil and gas.

She said the state-of-the-art technologies are needed in order to ensure development of the sector, adding production of new grades of petrochemicals would generate huge value-added and will help complete the value chain in the sector.

"It will also enhance efficiency of operations in the industry and help reduce sale of crude oil and gas," she said.

"Attraction of fresh investments in the sector, importing the latest technologies to the country, tapping available potentialities in R&D operations, partnership of domestic manufacturers and integrity of all active sectors in the industry can pave the way for materialization of NPC's plans," Alavi further said.

She said Iran enjoys unparalleled advantages in petrochemical sector which include abundance of accessible feedstock, skilled labor and proximity to high seas.
