Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of
production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said the amount was a new record in production of petrochemicals in Iran.
Iran launched several petrochemical facilities last year and will launch a number of others in the current year.
Given the
sector's performance in the period, the country will break a new record in petrochemical
output in the current calendar year, the official said.
Bossaqzadeh further added that the country
is estimated to supply 56 million tons of petrochemicals during this calendar
year from last year's 51 mt.
He said nearly 60% of petrochemicals
produced by Iran are exported, adding the rest is sold on the domestic market.
This output will be 86% of the country's
rated production capacity.
