According
to the company’s public relations, Mir Afzali said the unit is being
constructed with the aim of turning propane into polypropylene and will be fed
by propane supplies from different phases of the South Pars gas field.
He said
a 20% rise in the company’s polypropylene output is also envisaged by the
plant.
The
official added that phase one of the ABS/Rubber unit of the facility will also
come on-stream by the end of the current Iranian calendar year which began on
March 21, adding the project will become fully operational in the first half of
the next Iranian fiscal year.
Mir
Afzali further added that availability of massive natural gas reserves is one
of the key advantages of developing petrochemical plants in Iran.
