TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- A senior petrochemical official said leading European petrochemical companies have geared up to ramp up their presence in Iran’s petrochemical projects in the wake of removed sanctions on Tehran’s economic sectors.

Hossein Alimorad, director of investment at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), speaking to NIPNA, said many European petrochemical heavyweights have signaled readiness to join petrochemical projects in Iran, adding talks with several European companies are currently on the go.
NPC has so far signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) as well as other cooperation documents with chemical companies with the aim of holding studies over technical and economic feasibility of dozens of projects and finally signing contracts with them for developing the projects, he said.
“Besides Europeans, Asian companies are also seeking to win shares in Iran’s petrochemical industry,” he said. “We have so far signed cooperation documents with companies from countries like Japan and South Korea.”
He said thanks to the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), foreign companies step forward to join projects in Iran.
Alimoread further added that adopting the state-of-the-art financial instruments is NPC’s priority in managing investments in the petrochemical industry of Iran.
