TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran’s Noori Petrochemical Plant, one of the country’s largest petrochemical producers, has cut its greenhouse emissions by at least 20% in line with the Paris Agreement to save the environment.

Mahmoud Sadeh, director of the environment department of the plant, told NIPNA that observation of environmental principles is one of the plant’s chief strategies.

He said the company has successfully curbed greenhouse emissions at one of its furnaces in a major step to save the environment.

Sadeh said similar projects are under way at other furnaces of the facility to reduce their emissions too.

“We are seeking to do our best in order to preserve the environment,” he said.

The Paris Agreement (French: Accord de Paris) is an agreement within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) dealing with greenhouse gases emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance starting in the year 2020.
