TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Leading German companies in chemical and petrochemical industries have indicated readiness to offer technical knowhow to Iran’s petrochemical projects in order to complete the sector’s value chain, head of the Iran-Germany Commercial Chamber says.

Speaking to NIPNA, Omid Boraqi said Germany companies have signaled their willingness to join petrochemical projects in Iran, adding one of Germany’s chemical heavyweights has signed a €5.5b deal for development of Iran’s petrochemical industry.

He said the deal will be carried out in two phases and will entail all parts of the production line of a specific petrochemical product in Iran.

Boraqi, declining to disclose more details about the Germany firm, said the company has also agreed to build a petrochemical complex in Iran in which products will be produced and readied for export.

“That such a renowned Germany company has decided to cooperate with Iranian companies is an indication of the status and prestige of Iran’s petrochemical industry in international arenas and this will be a major step forward for the country in the post-sanctions setting,” the official said.

Once the project comes on-stream, petrochemical products will be produced in Iran and will be exported with an internationally honored brand which would transform the regional petrochemical market, he said.

“The items produced by the project will not only be exported to Europe, but will be sent to the customers in any other countries with the German firm’s brand,” he added.

This company is one of the world’s leading chemical companies and cooperation with it is a great commercial opportunity for Iran, Boraqi further said.
