9-Month Petchem Output Grows 8%

TEHRAN (NIPNA) – Iran's petrochemical output reached nearly 40 million tons in the first 9 months of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20, up 8% year-over-year, a petrochemical official says.

 

Ali Mohammad Bossaqzadeh, director of production control at National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said supply of petrochemicals to the domestic markets is the first priority of the plants in Iran, adding nearly 40 million tons of petrochemical products were produced by petrochemical facilities across the country during the 9 months. 

The official said the plants have sold over 12.5 mt of petrochemicals on the domestic markets, up 17% from the same period last year. 

Bossaqzadeh also said that inauguration of new South Pars phases has added to the feedstock supply petrochemical plants in the country. 

Furthermore, 11 projects were expected to be launched in the current year of which many have been launched and a number of others will come on-stream by the yearend. 

The official further said that export of petrochemical products also rose by 8% in the period, adding that Iranian petrochemical companies exported 16 million tons.
