TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Iran’s Nouri Petrochemical Plant has been eligible to obtain the ISO 50001 in Energy management systems.

According to Nouri Petrochemical Plant’s public relations, pre-assessment of the company’s energy management systems began in October and the company’s fuel consumption was assessed on December 3 and 4 2016 by SGS.

After thorough examinations, the plant was finally pronounced eligible to receive the standard.

Incremental reduction to greenhouse gas emissions and other environmental pollutants, reduction of financial costs in energy consumption, increasing energy efficiency in the organization's processes, creating a culture of reforming consumption patterns for the proper use of energy, creating new strategies for efficient use of energy, controlling and standardization of energy consumption are the biggest benefits of using international standard for energy management.

ISO 50001:2011 Energy management systems – Requirements with guidance for use is a specification created by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for an energy management system.

The standard specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and improving an energy management system, whose purpose is to enable an organization to follow a systematic approach in achieving continual improvement of energy performance, including energy efficiency, energy security, energy use and consumption.

The standard aims to help organizations continually reduce their energy use, and therefore their energy costs and their greenhouse gas emissions.
