Iran Petchem Output 20% up: NPC

TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing Director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei sayd Iran’s petrochemical output has risen by 20% by increased feedstock supply and inauguration of several projects in the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 20.

 

Speaking to NIPNA, the official said the arrival of foreign licensors to petrochemical projects in Iran has raised output in complexes like Tondgouyan and Arvand and has raise the quality of products in other plants. 

Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, further said several petrochemical facilities have become operational during the current calendar year but they are not yet operating at their full capacity which will raise the country’s output even more once they operate at their full capacity.

Iran currently has a capacity to produce 60 million tons of petrochemicals, which is expected to expand to 180 million tons in the coming years as a number of projects are coming on stream.
