Speaking to NIPNA, Moayyed Hosseini said the body would in fact be focused on addressing concerns like provision of infrastructures, feedstock supply, destination markets, completion of the value chain and the country production and consumption capacity.
He said some semi-private petrochemical companies are erroneously under the impression that a regulatory body would interfere pricing of petrochemical products in the market while the reality is different and such a regulatory would benefit all the industry’s involved parties.
He said the body can act as a decision-making center for the industry and offer guidelines to policy makers of companies and help them ensure their profits while generating jobs in the country.
Hosseini further said the backing of the parliament is also needed for formation of a strong regulatory body in Iran so that its decisions would enjoy some legal weight as well.
