TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Reza Mohtashami Pour, head of the Petrochemical Downstream Industries Office, says once new methanol projects come on-stream in Iran, the country will see a boom in production of methanol.

Speaking to NIPNA, the official said methanol supply in the energy stock exchange will boost dramatically once the projects come online.

He said like any other stock market, the energy stock exchange can become a key economic lever in the country, saying methanol will be the leading product supplied in the market.

He added that the volume of transactions at the energy stock market will rise dramatically by the time new projects come online.

Iran is currently developing Kaveh Methanol Plant that is touted as the world's biggest methanol project.

Once fully operational, the plant will add 7 million tons of methanol to the country's total petrochemical output.

Petrochemical plants can supply over 61 million tons of petrochemical projects on a yearly basis in Iran.
