TEHRAN (NIPNA) — Phase III of Pardis Ammonia and Urea Plant is being prepared for startup with an annual capacity of 680,000 tons of Ammonia and 1.07 mt of urea.

The project had made 95.25% physical progress by the end of the month of Mehr (September 22-October 21), the seventh month in Iranian calendar year.

By late July, the plant had made 97.85 progress in its design and engineering and 98.2% in its preparation sections. Moreover, its construction and installation sections had made 82% progress.

The plant’s first phase began in 2001 and was operational in 2007. Besides, construction of its second phase began in 2004 and came on-stream in 2010.

Once operational, phase III of the project will bring the facility’s urea output to 3.3mt/y.

Fed by natural gas, the plant’s first two phases can process 1.360mt/y of ammonia and 2.150mt/y of urea.

Ammonia and urea units are specially noticed in areas where gas feedstock is abundant and can generation so many jobs.

There are only 111 urea units in the world and China accounts for 11% of the world’s urea output.

China, India, the US and Brazil are the world’s biggest producers of urea.

Pardis Petrochemical Plant is the world’s 4th biggest supplier of urea which will become the second biggest one once its third phase comes online.
