The company also produced 513,000 tons of granular urea in
the first half of the current Iranian year, exceeding its approved production
target by 10% and recording its highest output in five years, according to a
statement from Masjed Soleyman Petrochemical Industries Company.
Peyman Shah-Oveisi, the company’s managing director, said
the 101-day run was achieved without an operational shutdown or the need to
clean the granulation box. He described it as an internationally significant
achievement and said Toyo had formally recognized the performance at an
official meeting.
The granulation box was subsequently cleaned in early Mehr
(late September) as part of a scheduled preventive maintenance programme, in
line with the company’s strategy of improving production efficiency, optimizing
energy consumption and protecting plant assets and equipment.
Shah-Oveisi said the complex had faced a 17-day shutdown in
Farvardin (March-April) due to regional conditions, followed by restrictions
caused by natural gas supply imbalances. However, employees managed to recover
the lost production and deliver an additional 46,000 tons of urea above the
approved six-month target.
The ammonia unit also achieved a record of 159 consecutive
days of production during the first half of the year, a run that was still
ongoing at the time of the announcement, he added.
The company also reported saving approximately 34.8 million
cubic metres of natural gas compared with the lowest consumption level recorded
over the previous five years for producing an equivalent volume of output. The
reduction in gas consumption intensity brought gas use per ton of urea to its
lowest level since the complex began operations. Steam, water, electricity and
chemical consumption also declined significantly, according to Shah-Oveisi.
He further announced that the company had sold and exported
more than 15,000 tons of surplus ammonia, marking the highest export volume in
its operating history.
Shah-Oveisi attributed the achievements to the sustained
efforts and rapid response of operational and administrative personnel, while
acknowledging strategic support from Saba Energy Holding.
He said maintaining production performance and meeting
annual targets would depend on securing a continuous and stable supply of
natural gas during the cold season. The company, he added, was ready to
maintain its current operational performance and continue contributing to
national export earnings.
Petrochemical Industries Design and Engineering Company
(PIDEC), which served as the basic engineering contractor for the urea unit,
also contributed to the project’s design and development. Its specialists,
particularly in process engineering, were involved in process simulation,
development of design bases, technical document reviews and engineering
coordination across project disciplines.
