TEHRAN, Nov. 1 (NIPNA) – Passive defense is an effective strategic approach to safeguarding national assets and managing crises, the head of the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone Organization said, citing lessons from recent wars.

Mohammadreza Motiri, who also serves as the zone’s senior passive defense and crisis management commander, made the remarks at a ceremony marking National Passive Defense Week, attended by the deputy head of Iran’s Passive Defense Organization, the Khuzestan governor and petrochemical company executives.

Motiri said one of the most important outcomes for the zone since the early days of the 12-day war had been the experience gained in passive defense.

A preventive approach, he said, can help industries protect themselves against threats while ensuring the intelligent management of resources and consumption.

Although passive defense is often associated primarily with areas such as cybersecurity, recent conflicts have demonstrated that proper planning, prevention and corrective measures can help avert extensive damage by making effective use of existing capabilities and resources, he added.

Motiri identified the allocation and management of assets and resources under difficult conditions as another key lesson from the wartime experience.

He described passive defense as a framework for prevention, protection, guidance and planning, enabling organizations to make the best use of available resources during crises.

Emphasizing the importance of public solidarity and cooperation, Motiri said the lessons learned could help build a more resilient, determined and dynamic Iran.

He expressed hope that these experiences would support stronger efforts to protect national assets and improve the country’s preparedness.
