TEHRAN, Oct. 26 (NIPNA) — Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on government agencies to coordinate efforts to curb energy waste, promote conservation and improve public awareness of efficient resource use.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Pezeshkian stressed the need to embed a culture of saving resources in everyday life, saying conservation should be practiced across all aspects of society, according to the presidential office’s website, as reported by Shana.

The government is working to improve the management of gasoline, diesel, electricity, natural gas and water consumption, Pezeshkian said, adding that cooperation from state broadcaster IRIB was essential to achieving the desired results nationwide.

He also urged government agencies to apply energy-saving measures within their own operations.

Pezeshkian called for preparations to introduce a “Car-Free Tuesdays” initiative in a supportive and voluntary manner, encouraging public-sector employees to refrain from using their personal vehicles on Tuesdays.

The initiative is intended to promote public participation in conservation efforts as the government seeks to improve energy efficiency across the country.
