TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (NIPNA) – Iran’s deputy petroleum minister and head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) called for stronger coordination across the petrochemical sector to transform industrial achievements into b

roader social value, highlighting the strategic role of corporate communications.

Speaking at a ceremony introducing the NPC’s new acting director general of public relations, Hassan Abbaszadeh, NPC’s CEO, said public relations departments can help consolidate scattered technological and operational successes into “hope-generating social capital” for society and industry stakeholders.

Abbaszadeh noted that the privatization of a significant share of petrochemical firms has made the sector more complex and diverse, increasing the need for structured communication. “Companies are delivering valuable innovations, including first-time domestic manufacturing of equipment and production of new grades, yet these accomplishments are not always communicated in a timely manner,” he said.

He stressed that closer collaboration between management teams and communications units could improve information flow, promote best practices, and boost motivation across the industry. Abbaszadeh added that highlighting creative initiatives in project execution and operations could provide models for replication sector-wide.

Referring to human capital, Abbaszadeh said petrochemical employees have achieved recognition in scientific, artistic, and sports arenas, suggesting that a coordinated communications network could better showcase these capacities.

Building a unified communications network

Abbaszadeh urged public relations managers at petrochemical companies to strengthen networking and maintain continuous engagement to facilitate the exchange of information and amplify successful initiatives. He said such a framework could also enhance cooperation on corporate social responsibility programs.

The NPC chief also called for reviving Iran’s concentrated presence at international petrochemical exhibitions. He said earlier participation through a unified national pavilion had reduced costs and reinforced Iran’s brand, but that representation had weakened in recent editions.

“A coordinated return to international exhibitions can lower expenses while presenting a cohesive and powerful image of Iran’s petrochemical industry globally,” Abbaszadeh said.

Abbaszadeh thanked former communications executives and acknowledged Peyman Karimi for past efforts. He expressed confidence that Reza Mehrabi, the NPC’s newly appointed acting public relations chief, would strengthen industry linkages and improve communications cohesion.
