Speaking on the sidelines of the Feb. 11 demonstrations, Petroleum Minister
Mohsen Paknejad congratulated Iranians on the 47th anniversary of the
revolution and described the turnout as “a clear and transparent message” to
“enemies.”
“Today, the country faces threats from those who cannot tolerate
Iran’s growth and prosperity,” Paknejad said. “The enthusiastic presence of the
people conveys a clear message to ill-wishers.”
He dismissed the idea that military pressure could deter Iranians from
public life. “If they think that with warships, fighter jets and military
equipment they can remove the Iranian people from the scene, they are gravely
mistaken,” he said.
Paknejad thanked citizens for their participation, calling it a
reflection of deeply rooted national beliefs. He added that the administration
would “spare no effort” to enhance livelihoods and economic conditions, saying
the issue remained a priority for officials.
Iran holds nationwide rallies each year on 22 Bahman in the Persian
calendar to commemorate the overthrow of the U.S.-backed Shah and the
establishment of the Islamic Republic.
