TEHRAN, Dec 21 (NIPNA) – Iran’s deputy education minister said on Sunday that the involvement of petrochemical companies in education and public awareness campaigns represented a valuable contribution to corporate social responsibility and the protection of national resources.

Seyed Mostafa Azarkish, deputy minister at the Ministry of Education, made the remarks at a ceremony marking the signing of a cooperation agreement between the education sector and petrochemical companies on energy consumption management and efficiency, according to state media.

Azarkish said introducing students to concepts such as responsible consumption, efficiency and safeguarding national resources would help cultivate future managers capable of reducing energy waste and managing resources more effectively.

“With the support of industry, students no longer see energy saving as an obligation, but as a national value and responsibility,” he said, adding that such initiatives could underpin sustainable development and preserve resources for future generations.

He highlighted the role of petrochemical companies in supporting modern technologies in schools and enhancing educational infrastructure, saying cross-sector cooperation was essential to promoting an energy-efficiency culture nationwide.

Azarkish said coordination among government bodies, including the ministries responsible for energy, labour and education, alongside Iran’s school system of more than 16.5 million students and their families, provided a broad platform for public education on energy management.

He described the agreement as not only an economic initiative but also a social commitment and cultural investment, expressing hope that joint efforts would lead to more sustainable and efficient use of the country’s resources.
