The initiative — carried out in collaboration with Tehran-based Open
Structures Processing Engineering Company (OSP) and involving the company’s
energy optimization, environmental, and integrated planning teams — aims to
systematically manage water consumption, reduce wastage, and set a benchmark
for other national industries. The project has reached 50% completion six months
into its planned timeline.
The ISO 46001:2019 standard is not merely a certification, but a
serious commitment to water conservation, environmental protection, and greener
operations. Jam Petrochemical estimates that annual water costs total
approximately 2,000 billion rials, and implementing the standard is expected to
achieve at least 5% savings, equivalent to around 100 billion rials per year.
The company said the project positions Jam Petrochemical to become the
first petrochemical facility in Iran to adopt a fully sustainable approach to
water resource management, reinforcing its broader corporate goals of
environmental stewardship and sustainable industrial development.
