Khosro Gasambekov said the exhibition, which
opened on Monday at Tehran International Fairgrounds, provides a strategic
platform for meetings, negotiations, and cooperation between Iranian and Russian
companies active in plastics and polymers.
“Bilateral meetings between the presidents of
Iran and Russia have consistently emphasized expanding trade and industrial
collaboration. Recent sessions of the Iran-Russia Economic Cooperation
Commission resulted in the signing of key agreements, including on free trade,
signaling a mutual desire to deepen ties and build a brighter future,”
Gasambekov said.
He highlighted the existing potential in both
countries’ plastics sectors and expressed optimism that events like IranPlast
would help facilitate stronger cooperation between Iranian and Russian
companies.
Meanwhile, Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to
Russia, pointed to the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union as
another avenue for bilateral trade growth. He noted that the current trade
volume does not reflect the full potential of the two countries. “While the
government is responsible for policy-making, it is the private sector that must
actively engage. Domestic barriers also need to be removed with firm
determination,” Jalali said.
The 19th IranPlast exhibition, held from
September 8–11 at Tehran International Fairgrounds, is attended by top
officials, including Hassan Abbaszadeh, CEO of the National Petrochemical
Company, alongside senior figures from Iran’s oil and petrochemical sectors.
